Tabletop Photography
I remember the very first photos I took with my new (to me) Canon Rebel XSi as if it were yesterday. I shot them in Auto and was blown away by the clarity and vibrance of the images in my little playback screen. My beginner's luck encouraged me to treat my DSLR as little more than a point-and-shoot and, many happy accidents later, I am still doing so - for the most part.
I occasionally experiment with different settings but I cannot claim to truly understand how I arrive at the photos deemed good enough to grace this blog.

A few days ago, I took a plunge I've been meaning to for months. I bought Photo 101 by Nicole Hill Gerulat and - before I could talk myself out of it - I plunged further still. I signed up for her online Tabletop Photography class which begins this Monday.
The course lasts 4 weeks and I am expected to submit homework on Sundays. Just think - in a month you, dear reader, could go from murmurs of appreciation to coos of absolute pleasure!
Here's hoping.

Oh, I've been wanting to try one of Nicole's classes. Please let us know how you like it. Your review may give me that extra push I need. Cannot wait to see all that you learn. Above all else, have a great time nourishing your creativity.
"Above all else, have a great time nourishing your creativity."
That's exactly what I'm doing: nourishing my creativity! :D
What a brilliant way of putting it - thank you, darling. x
Theresa took the words right out of my mouth. I'm so happy that you're going to be indulging in your creative side with this endeavor. You'll no doubt learn a ton and feel so inspired at the end of it! Your photos are always so beautiful. I always say I'm going to use more of my own photography on my blog. Enjoy the next 4 weeks and shoot away! xoxo
Aww, thanks Erin - so sweet of you to be complimentary about my amateur attempts! x
I'm hoping the class demystifies things once and for all for me. I really enjoy photography but I just know that I'll love it a whole lot more when I have a clearer picture (excuse the pun!) of how it all works. :)
Oh Chi! HOORAY! I am so excited for you! You have such a great eye, and I know you're going to love these classes! I can't wait to see what unfolds for you...please keep us posted and do a review. You're going to unlock some great stuff, I just know!
Thanks, Lauren! It means the world to me that you've always been so encouraging and supportive. x
I'll certainly let you know how it goes - either here or on Twitter. :)
How exciting. And I thought you were a pro... honest! Have lots of creative fun won't you. I did a 3 hour photography course a couple of weekends ago and since putting my camera to the P setting I've had a few disasters... perhaps a more lengthy and detailed course like the one your are doing is more suited to me. mmmm.
I shall be watching this space Chi xx
Oh, you know I love a good pun! xo
@Sam: Wow! Really?! I'm very flattered that you thought so - thank you. :D
Secretly, I'd love to be a professional photographer on the side ............ *glazes over*
@ Erin: :D
Chi I'm meaning to do a new photography course too and so I'm really interested to see how you get along. Maybe me and Sam can do one together!
